When people think about CCTV, Juno Beach isn’t the first place that comes to mind — but it’s a small town with a specific kind of property: beachfront condos, single-family homes tucked east of US-1, and a coastline that happens to be one of the most active sea turtle nesting stretches in the world.
That last part actually matters for security cameras here in a way it doesn’t in most towns — more on that below.
The Turtle-Lighting Rule Most Camera Companies Don’t Know About
From roughly March through October, Juno Beach and the surrounding coastal municipalities enforce lighting ordinances to protect nesting sea turtles. Bright white light visible from the beach can disorient nesting females and hatchlings. That means exterior lighting on beachfront and near-beach properties often has to be turtle-friendly — shielded, low-mounted, and designed to minimize light visible from the beach during nesting season.
This matters for security cameras because a lot of off-the-shelf camera and floodlight combinations throw exactly the kind of bright white light that can create a problem.
When we install cameras in Juno Beach, we think about the whole system — camera placement, night vision, exterior lighting, wiring, and the property itself. The goal is good security without creating a lighting problem that gets your HOA or the town calling.
Wendy’s Take: Your Camera Doesn’t Need to Look Like a UFO 👽
Here’s something I always notice when people show me their security camera setup: somehow they think the answer to seeing better at night is to make the entire front of the house glow like a football stadium.
It isn’t.
Especially in a place like Juno Beach, where lighting can be a bigger issue than people realize, I’d much rather have a properly positioned camera with good night vision than a giant floodlight blasting the neighborhood every time a palm frond moves.
Good security shouldn’t announce itself to the entire neighborhood. The camera should see what’s happening without making your house look like it’s preparing for liftoff.
That’s one of those little details that doesn’t always show up on a camera comparison chart — but it matters when you’re actually living with the system.
Condo, Townhome, or Single-Family — Juno Beach Isn’t One-Size-Fits-All
A lot of Juno Beach is vertical — oceanfront condo buildings where exterior camera work may have to go through the condo association, not just the individual owner. For single-family homes farther from the beach, the installation looks more like a standard residential job: entry points, driveway, backyard, and the areas around the property where you actually need visibility.
- Condo and HOA buildings: We work with condo boards and property managers on approved camera placement for common areas and individual units, including coordinating what an association will and won’t allow on shared exterior walls.
- Single-family homes: The right number of cameras depends on the property and what you actually need to see. We’d rather design the coverage than sell you a predetermined camera count.
- Rental and seasonal properties: With seasonal and vacation-rental properties in the area, remote viewing and motion alerts can be especially useful. You want to know what’s happening at the property between guests or while you’re away.
Salt Air Is the Other Local Factor
Being this close to the ocean means faster corrosion on cheap camera housings, connectors, and other exposed equipment than you’d typically see farther inland.
We pay attention to the equipment itself as well as where wiring and connections are installed relative to salt air and wind-driven rain. An outdoor rating on a specification sheet is important, but it’s not the only thing we consider when we’re installing a system in a coastal environment.
CSS Myths & Tips
Myth: You need bright floodlights for a camera to see anything useful at night.
Reality: Not necessarily. A quality camera’s infrared or low-light sensor can provide excellent nighttime visibility without a visible floodlight.
And in Juno Beach, that’s an especially useful option. Instead of trying to work around exterior lighting concerns, we can often let the camera’s own night-vision capabilities do the job.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will my camera setup violate Juno Beach’s turtle-lighting ordinance?
Not if it’s planned correctly. We design the system with the property’s location and lighting considerations in mind, including using camera night vision when appropriate instead of relying on bright exterior floodlights.
Do you work with condo associations on camera approval?
Yes. We can coordinate with property managers and condo boards regarding what’s allowed for exterior camera placement in Juno Beach condo and HOA properties.
Do I need Wi-Fi for security cameras to work?
Not necessarily. Wired systems from brands such as Hanwha, Ubiquiti, and Reolink can record to a local NVR without requiring internet access for the recording itself. Internet access is generally needed for remote viewing and certain cloud-connected features.
Is Certified Security Systems an authorized ADT dealer?
Yes. We’re an authorized ADT dealer, and we also install standalone CCTV systems for homeowners who want to own their camera system without a monthly monitoring fee.
One More Thing From Wendy…
You don’t need 14 cameras because someone on the internet said you do.
You also don’t need the cheapest camera you can find because it has “4K” printed on the box.
You need the right cameras in the right places for your property.
That’s what we look at when we do an on-site assessment. We’d rather tell you that you need six cameras than sell you ten cameras you don’t need. And if we think something you’re considering isn’t going to work the way you expect it to, we’re going to tell you that too.
Because at the end of the day, we’re not just installing cameras. We’re the people you’re going to call when something isn’t working.
